Day 12 – The 30 Day Bali Silent Retreat Challenge Review

Sunday, October 8, 2020: Day 12 - The 30 Day Bali Silent Retreat Challenge Review

I checked for the election results, and finally, they finished counting the votes in Arizona: Biden won. Somehow I felt, that I was waiting for this result for so long, and now, it felt absolutely meaningless. I went to yoga class. As a warmup, I did one set of WHM breathing and 43 push-ups without breathing. It is proceeding in the right direction. I joined the morning meditation with Carmen, followed by her yoga class, and breakfast.

Heading back to my room, I was tired, felt low on energy, my legs were tense, and I felt some kind of emptiness, not knowing what to do today. I think I experienced an ego backlash. Didn't I feed it well yesterday, with the beer and the cigarette? Or was it just the wrong choice of food, drink, and cigarette which sucked my energy?

Ginger Tea Turnes Into Ginger Coffee

Ginger TeaSo, I laid down and fell asleep while listening to the mental strength training week 7. First in English, during which I fell asleep. Until I got woken up, by the Indonesian version of it. I kept listening to it, and meanwhile, I was able to get the meaning of the majority of the sentences. I felt that I need a coffee, to get up to speed, still feeling too tired to prepare one. So, I decided just to have the rest of the ginger tea.

Every morning they provide ginger tea in your room.Β  This is really a nice thing. About 5:00 in the morning, I kept hearing the security person with his too-big gumboots walking around the house, and bring tea. He puts a basket with a thermal bottle and a cup in front of the room.

Even if I never understood, why they have "security start" at this peaceful place. Well, maybe the person, who lights and maintains the fire in the evening, and serves the tea in the morning, needed a job description, which did sound like more than a fire maker and ginger tea waiter. Whatever title he had, he did a great job. I really appreciated it. The ginger tea was still hot, and it is delicious to prepare a ginger coffee with it. After drinking that, I felt at least energized enough to pack my laptop and go to the History House for writing.

I went for lunch and found a book about Bikram yoga, and started reading. Due to the fact, that I lost my girlfriend's script from her Bikram Yoga class, I started scanning, rewriting, and improving the pages of the book, which described the entire training sequence of the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Then I went for a walk and listened to the scanned text of the Bikram yoga book. First in English, and followed by Indonesian until it was time for dinner. After that, I went to the firehouse and finally went to sleep.
