Buying a business is like hiring an employee. It is misleading because it is ongoing. It is not like closing, it is how to employ it, by feed, own, nutritious, maintain, … otherwise, it ends up with the problems above. You need to take the lead and coach them to get up to speed. What needs the employees of the bought business need to know, to get out of the threat and back to work.
After getting stability (90 days), in the first 6 months, it is building people and culture. Be in the business for 90-120 days every day. During that time I need to give up something else.
There is a difference between earnings and cash.
